New Rival tire sizes

Thought some of you Street/ST* guys might care: http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/tire-sel ... #techspecs

The 275/40-17 is relevant to my interests for the SC. It's been wearing the same Goodyears since late 2007.

The head race tire engineer for Michelin (didn't know they owned BFG) I talked to at Daytona mentioned a Gen 2 Rival coming out later this year...

I wanted to ask the guy so many more questions but I met him around 3am, I was tired, and getting sloppy drunk by that point. He actually sort of offered me a job, or at least wanted me to look into working for them at the Greenville, SC plant when he found out I was a Manufacturing Engineer, but again I was tired and drunk so I'm not really pursuing anything. All of their race tires are still made in France.

I believe those new sizes are for the new gen tire, but I'm not sure. I don't see the point of offering new sizes of the old version months before introducing the new version.

I think that's the total list of what they plan to produce...somewhere. No guarantee that all of those will come to USA.

Here is the list of sizes which TireRack says are the first ones that will come here:

The Rival-S is a separate tire from the current g-Force Rival which will continue to be available in its current form and size range.

As we wait for the official announcement on the Rival-S, Tire Rack has been given a preliminary list of sizes planned for production. Time will tell if all are produced, but we have no reason to think they won’t. As of today we don’t have any availability info, but we expect the Rival-S to make the April 30th Solo eligibility deadline. We can accept pre-orders via our phone sales team, and our web site will show the tire once we have more concrete availability information closer to the launch date.

Those 315's will definitely get some attention in the AS community.
