Shelby GT350R

I can't see this sneaking into FS, but if this thing gets legal for ESP, finding A7s in my size could be the least of my problems.

They got an estimated price tag for such niceties?

Wait, you drive a boosted Thunderbird. What's the difference?

If it came in a 2 door I would for sure buy one.

I love the gt350. who would have guessed 3 years ago that Ford and GM would be building the awesome stuff they are today?

I agree. The only issue is the pricing. Goodness.

You can get an EVO now & save $10k.

The only reason the GT350R costs so much is the limited production run.

carbon fiber wheels.
CARBON FIBER WHEELS!

I don't like the Evo for some reason and the new ones have gone soft. I hope the RS is more "Escort RS Cosworth" (drool) and less "AWD ST".

I have to admit the Ford lineup is looking pretty well-rounded from a performance standpoint. A true sport sedan (not that SHO POS) might make it complete.

The question is: will the gt350r compete with the z28? Is it even supposed to? I can't imagine Ford not benchmarking against it, they got the benefit of seeing Chevy's cards first.

I just hope we get real Trans Am racing back...

I'd think so. Nearly identical power, same size wheels, but the Mustang is lighter. Granted, the Z28 has those track-only tires. Put them on the same rubber and I'd give the Mustang the edge.

The tires are the big thing though, if you put the Trofeo Rs on most if not all of the 'supercars' the z/28 is outpacing it would likely turn the tables - a lot of those cars are on Pilot Super Sports. The mustang does get a 'special version' of the new Pilot Sport Cup 2 - which is probably Michelain's answer to the Trofeo.

I like the Mustang over the Camaro for numerous reasons but the magazines will only care about how the cars are 'as delivered'.

The new Fastrack specifically excludes the GT350 from ESP (at least for this year). It also lists the 2011-13 GT500 in ASP, so maybe that's what they'll do with the GT350 & 350R.

I had heard that the ring time was still not confirmed by Ford or anyone with the Ring. I also heard that the Camaro ran its time in the wet. I got to drool all over a Z/28 at Daytona and the thing is awesome. Can't wait to see the 350R!

Yeah, that's why I wasn't making too big a deal out of it. Eventually one of the car mags will get the Z/28 and 350R on the same track on the same day and we'll get a true comparison. Maybe.

I say maybe because they'll probably test the cars as delivered, whereas most of us here would probably like to see the test done on identical or at least equal tires, as we'd see them in competition.
