Chattanooga Region Racers make the 2021 SCCA National Runoffs!

On Friday, October 1st, Vesa Silegren (#60) and Chuck Fulgraf (#95) competed in H Production Hondas, and Anthony Henderson (#17) drove his Caracal C Formula Vee in the 2021 SCCA National Runoffs.

The H Production race stated well for 2019 HP champion Vesa Silegren, as he started in 3rd place and had moved up to 2nd. While defending second place, however, he and the third place Austin-Healy Sprite of Eric Vickerman came together and both cars went out of the race in a major crash. Vesa’s diligent attention to detail, including the safety equipment, no doubt contributed to his being able to walk away unhurt.

Meanwhile, Chuck Fulgraf managed to improve his starting position by 5 places, moving up to finish 31st out of 42 starters. Chuck had been to the runoffs in years past, and has competed in an Alfa Romeo and a Lola Sports Racer.

In Formula Vee, Anthony Henderson also managed to work his way up through the field. Although he had a bit less engine power than some of his rivals, he made up for it with handling in the turns and finished in 34th place after starting 42nd. FV is a very closely contested class and had 47 starters.
